Ksiaz Castle - facade detail

Książ Castle is the biggest castle in Silesia region. The original fortification was destroyed in the year 1263 by Ottokar II of Bohemia. Bolko I, Duke of Świdnica and Jawor built a new castle between 1288 and 1292. It was rebuilt and destroyed several times, so now it's a multi style complex. During the 2nd World War the nazists' Todt Organisation wanted to create bunkers in the hill connected with underground military factories in Sudety mountains. After 1945 the castle was devastated by Red Army. From '70 under reconstruction.
